Set in pristine bushland with giant Tuarts overlooking most fairways and bird-life including the rare Black Cockatoo, this 18 hole A grade championship course is a great test of one’s golfing abilities, but a serene scenic pleasure if the golf is not up to scratch.
At Kwinana Golf Club we don’t stand on ceremony. Everyone is welcome here, from local golf enthusiasts to the finest amateur and professional players. Visitors tell us they appreciate our exceptional playing experience and amenities. Close to the economic power house of WA, but worlds apart, it’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy the game and soak up nature amid the tree lined fairways.
The best club in WA considering the quality of the course, the ready access to all golfers and the cost of play, the course consists of two distinct 9s, the front 9 being flat and inviting, leading an unsuspecting golfer into a false sense of security, then the back 9, features undulating fairways with two large hills.
Next to the 12th tee consider for a moment how “Wheatfield Cottage” looked in 1856, when it was only about a third of its current size, and the Smirk family who lived there grew to 14 children plus the parents by 1871, all housed in such a tiny cottage. This became the original clubhouse over 100 years later.
This relatively short par 5 hole, has an easy to reach green which is said by some to become a monster and is considered to be one of the toughest greens to putt on in the State. The 15th tee is the highest point on the course and has a magnificent view over the whole course. The peace and tranquillity here is only shattered by the woeful cry from the golfer whose tee shot veered off, or a missed putt on the tricky 14th green.
The 17th is a long par 4 of 402 metres, dog legging left from the tee over a natural lake which is also the course’s water supply. Here you will find an abundance of birdlife which makes this hole the beauty spot of the course!
A straight forward Par 5 18th,over 500 metres long, brings you straight back to the two storey clubhouse where in very pleasant surroundings you can discuss your game over a well deserved cold drink at our 19th hole.
Astonishing in its condition, boasting natural beauty and prolific birdlife, the hallmark of Kwinana Golf Club is its greens; expertly maintained by our Course Superintendent and his staff, they are always in excellent condition and run true. We look forward to welcoming you all and know you will want to return.
